Honoring Steve Rogers, VQ Co-Founder

Full Story

VisionQuest Co-Founder Steve Rogers passed away on January 12, 2018 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Bob Burton met Steve while playing football in Las Vegas in the early 1970s, where he stood out as an athletic force to be reckoned with, carrying strong leadership skills. His big heart and intelligence led Bob to ask him to work with him in the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center where they brought order to an out of control correctional institution. Later, in 1972, he joined Bob and another colleague, Sandra Rice to move to Arizona to create VisionQuest, which at that time was a revolutionary new direction for troubled youth in the private sector. Through the many challenges of those early years Steve’s gift for connecting with troubled youth, his communication skills with staff and government officials and his sense of humor were instrumental in the inception and growth of VisionQuest.
