Types of Positions

TEACHER
Minimum Requirements: College degree and state certification required in content area.
Description: Provides for the instruction and educational needs of educationally disadvantaged youth and assists students in experiencing success in the classrooms.

REGISTERED NURSE OR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an approved nursing education program, i.e. nursing school, college, or university. Valid licensure to practice nursing in the applicable jurisdiction.
Description: Responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and wellbeing of each youth in a VisionQuest program. RNs/LPNs perform routine nursing services in caring for the youth and staff according to physician orders. The guidelines for nursing practice are in accordance with the Licensing Board of each state and the Nurse Practice Act of that state.

CASE MANAGER
Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in human services area (psychology, social work, etc.) or related field.
Description: Manages the cases for the youth assigned to them and is responsible for ensuring that all services specified in the youth’s case plan are delivered as required.

YOUTH ADVOCATE
Minimum Requirements: College degree preferably in social services and/or two years equivalent work-related experience.
Description: Ensures that youth in VisionQuest programs are treated with dignity and their rights are protected. Helps to resolve any complaints or concerns a youth may have, and ensures compliance with all youth treatment policies and regulations.

CHILD CARE DIRECTOR
Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or G.E.D. Two years experience working with youth preferred.
Description: Supervises, monitors, and provides effective management, leadership and guidance for staff and youth under his/her direction.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR:
Minimum Requirements: College degree within the social services field plus 2-3 years experience or any combination of experience or training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills.
Description: Responsible for the administration and monitoring of all components essential to the delivery of innovative intervention services to at risk youth and families at the program level.

THERAPIST
Minimum Requirements: Typically, a Masters degree in a human services area (psychology, social work, etc.) or related field. In some locations, a Bachelor’s degree in human services meets state requirements. At least one year of experience working with juveniles/at-risk youth in a counseling capacity. Thorough knowledge of treatment programs for adolescents; knowledge of assessment methods and individual and group counseling techniques.
Description: Provides individual, group and family therapy, documents services in the clinical record, engages in inter-departmental care coordination, and documents service outcomes.

CHILD CARE WORKER/NIGHTWATCH
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Prior experience requirements vary by state; generally at least 6-12 months previous working experience with adolescents is required.
Description: Provides youth with guidance, support, compassion and structure through mentoring, role modeling and the integration of VisionQuest fabric to promote personal growth and development.

COMMUNITY BACKER
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, a minimum of one year’s experience working with at-risk adolescents, and a clean driving record.
Description: Functions as the primary communicator between the youth and the therapeutic intervention specialist. Extensive time is spent traveling throughout communities.

ADVENTURE SPECIALIST
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. plus previous experience in adventure activities and/or organized sports. Two years of experience in working with troubled youth or two years college and/or current certifications by a recognized institution in area of technical specialty are preferred.
Description: Leads, participates in and/or trains youth and staff in wilderness education, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, challenge course, first aid and other related areas.

HORSE CORPS FOREMAN/WRANGLER
Minimum Requirements: Documented and demonstrated expertise in livestock management.
Description: Responsible for the health, appearance, safety and record keeping of a large group of horses, mules and camels.

WAGON TRAIN MASTER
Minimum Requirements: A Wagon Master should hold a degree from an accredited university. Excellent riding skills are required. Management skills are a must.
Description: The Wagon Master is responsible for daily operations of the wagon train. They oversee all staff, youth and equipment.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES/ HR REPRESENTATIVE
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years generalist experience (Director) and 2 years (Representative positions); Master’s degree preferable.
Description: Oversees payroll, recruitment, benefits and other generalist functions while focusing on employee relations, claims, succession planning, etc.

KITCHEN MANAGER
Minimum Requirements: Previous culinary experience; casual dining cooking desired.
Description: Supervises, schedules, and motivates staff. Performs inventory and oversees food production.

COOK
Minimum Requirements: Previous food production experience.
Description: Prepares and serves food to youth.
